Four Ways to Have Better Synergy

As we celebrate International Women’s Day, I honor and celebrate all women who are doing amazing things! Despite our successes, many of us need more synergy. Synergy was hot term in the early 1980’s, but some people still don’t understand it. Oxford Dictionary defines synergy as “the interaction or cooperation of two or more organizations, substances, or other agents to produce a combined effect greater than the sum of their separate effects.”

Synergy comes from an ancient Greek word, synergia, which means working together. Dr. Edward Hoffman noted, “… Maslow popularized the term synergy to describe work teams in which the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.” The one thing that I’ve had to learn is to have more balance in my life. And I am not alone in my need to change my approach! Women are known to have difficulty separating our professional and personal lives.

In an article, “Martha Beck discusses the importance of building a barrier between the way you make your living and the way you live.” She offers helpful tips that can help any woman be more successful. I am working every day to be more successful. Having better synergy is key! I have accomplished many of my goals, including the following: becoming an educator, purchasing several properties, and starting a non-profit organization.

Despite healthy relationships with my loved ones, I also accomplished my goal by being more involved the last two years. Although many of my dreams have come true, I still have dreams that I want to become realities. I want to complete my doctoral degree, and I want my non-profit organization to change the world. I realize that I must make sure all four aspects of life (be, know, feel, and do) interact to have better synergy in my life. You can do it too!

The four ways to have better synergy are as follows:

1. Despite your career, be present in the lives of your loved ones. Appreciate your time.

2. Know what works for you (and doesn’t work) and make changes. Evaluate and reevaluate.

3. Maintain a spiritual relationship; so, you can go boldly to your Source when you feel weak.

4. Do what it takes to have more energy, including exercise.

Have you had trouble balancing your life? Please share how you gained better synergy (or how you plan to do it).
