Legal Forms Can Solidify Your Relationship With Your Contractor

by James Kahn

Getting your home repaired can become a big headache if you involve the wrong contractors. Dealing with the contractors who are responsible for doing repairs, can be tough because it is very hard to find contractors who are trustworthy and do great work for a reasonable price.

There are many reasons why homeowners and landlords fear contractors. Not being fully aware of how much repair is needed keeps you at a disadvantage when negotiating the price. Many times we hire contractors when we are in desperation. If someone gets in an emergency situation and we are very desperate to get it repaired, then contractors are able to charge higher prices because there will not be as much time to find the right person for this work. Unless you have already found someone that you are comfortable with this is a serious drawback.

These repair people often try to oversell themselves. Sometimes they are so observant with your nature that they can very easily say the work is done, while it may remain half complete. Make a point to create legal forms that state that you will not to pay these people until your work is completed.

Be very careful when making the choice that the person is qualified enough. Sometimes some people pretend to be experienced and qualified, but they are not. You can judge this by asking various questions. If they are not able to answer them you can make out that they are who they seem.

Another important problem that can happen to you is, if you hire your friend as contractor. Try not do this, as you will only go through uncomfortable conversations of something were to go wrong with the job. You won’t be able to deal with the expenditures they make. As they are your friends they just pretend to make the best but still the position may remain the same as before.

If you are simply fixed with a contractor who is qualified and experienced, make sure that you keep the relationship professional. Be very nice with them and treat them as professionals. Make it a key point they are just like any other repair contractor. Similarly, if any such incident takes place where you are not satisfied with the work you paid for, the worst thing you can do to him is repeatedly tell them about it.

Thinking Like A Winner

by Brian Tracy

You become what you think about most of the time. You are successful on the outside in direct proportion to the way you think successfully on the inside.

The degree to which you feel in control of your life will largely determine your level of mental well-being, your peace of mind, your happiness and the quality of your interactions with people. And the only thing in the world over which you have complete control is the content of your conscious mind. If you decide to exert that control and keep your mind on what you want, even when you are surrounded by difficult circumstances, your future potential will be unlimited.

Your aim should be to work on yourself and your thinking until you reach the point where you absolutely, positively believe yourself to be a total winner in anything you sincerely want to accomplish. When you reach the point where you feel unshakable confidence in yourself and your abilities, nothing will be able to stop you.

The first principle is that your thoughts, whatever they are, trigger mental pictures and emotions that then lead to your saying and doing certain things that are consistent with those thoughts.

With regard to success, when you think of what success means to you or think about being a great success in your career, you’ll think about the things you want to achieve and feel the pleasure of achieving them. You’ll talk like a success and begin to take actions that will lead you to the success that you desire. And the starting point is always to think like a winner.

The second principle is a paraphrase of the first principle. It says that your feelings will trigger thoughts and mental pictures that will then lead to your saying and doing certain things consistent with those feelings.

For example, when you feel positive and optimistic, you will smile and be cheerful. You will be more animated and energetic. You will be more enthusiastic and more efficient and effective in the things you do. Your positive feelings will trigger positive responses at all levels, and your world will be a more positive place. You will even attract into your life positive people and positive circumstances that are consistent with your feelings.

Begin today to practice these three key principles of personal power and accomplishment. Continually remind yourself to think, imagine, walk, talk and act like the winner you really are. You will be amazed at the results.

Now, here are three steps you can take immediately to put these ideas into action.

First, practice keeping your thoughts on the things you want and the people you care about, like playing pictures on the screen of your mind.

Second, if you want to feel positive and cheerful, act positively and cheerfully until you get the feeling consistent with your desire.

Third, imagine that you already have the success and happiness you desire. Deliberately create the feeling you would have and hold onto that feeling as long as you can. This will cause things to happen for you in a most remarkable way.

Video of the Week: Martin & Coretta

“This is a dedication to Martin Luther King Jr and Coretta Scott King. Their Love endured the prejudice of a nation as well as the ravages of time.

Their love was undiminished by their brief parting. Now they have forever; let us never forget the light they brought into the world. Until we meet again in the grace of the Lord, for none truly die who accept him into their hearts.

Mahalia Jackson is also included. She is singing the song that she sung at his funeral.”-Maurice Skillern

Where do you Cast?

by: Kimberly Chastain

“Cast all your anxiety on Him for He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7.

I don’t know if you have ever been fly-fishing or maybe you have seen it on TV. When you go fly fishing you cast your bait way down the river and let it float. That way the fish does not see you and hopefully attacks the bait. I have that vision when we cast our anxiety on God. Do you give Him your anxieties and let them float away and realize He is in control or do you keep the bait close so you can pick up the anxiety whenever you want? If a fly fisherman keeps his bait close he will scare away the fish. If he allows the bait to float downstream he is more likely to catch a fish.

I think when we keep our anxieties close God is unable to work and we are unable to even look down stream. Also, when we keep our anxieties close we focus on the anxiety and take our eyes off of God. When we give our anxieties to God and leave them there He is more able to work and we are better able to rest. I must confess I am good at giving God my burdens and worries, but I quickly take them back. Why wait on God, maybe I can figure this out myself? Do I really trust God to take my worries and take care of them? When I look closely at the above verse I often focus on the first part, cast all your anxiety on Him. The second part is almost as important if not more important. Because, my God cares for me, He wants to carry my burdens and He wants me to bring them to Him. He cares about all my burdens, not just some of them. He loves and wants me to share my worries and concerns. God certainly knows what is best for me and only wants the best.

So, I ask you “Where do you cast?” Once you cast your anxiety, do you leave it with God or do you take it back? God cares for you and cares about absolutely everything you care about. He made you and He loves you. Give your loving Father all your anxiety and leave it there. May you rest in His perfect peace.

Follow the Sraight Line to your goals

by Char Cooper

The quickest way to reach your goal is in a straight line. This article talks about how to avoid the distractions and stay focused on the actions that help us reach our goals.

The quickest way from point A (where you are now) to point B (where you want to be, your goal or dream) is in a straight line.

And the most efficient way to stay on the straight line is to focus your energy, and attention, and to practice a consistent set of actions.

What that means, is you choose thoughts, feelings, and actions that will move you closer to that goal.

Unfortunately, what really happens is we get motivated and start taking action towards our goal and we get side tracked, or the results aren’t quick enough so we lose our momentum. Suddenly our line from point A to point B looks more like Lombard Street in San Francisco, a very crooked one. I think we’ve all spent a lot of time on this crooked road.

For example, if you have a goal to “get in shape” as many of my clients do, that’s a pretty vague goal. A straight line would be to get very clear on the goal and the action steps you need to take in order to achieve it. “I want to lose 5lbs in the next 60 days by eating three healthy meals plus two nutritious snacks everyday as well as 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise, 10 minutes of stretching daily and weight lifting 3 times a week. That’s a pretty clear goal (and it can get even more specific by when, where, what times, etc). …..Many of us however, start to bargain & rationalize with ourselves “Well, I ate really healthy yesterday so I can cheat a little today.” Or “I don’t have time to eat healthy; I have to just grab something quick.” Or “It’s too cold, wet, windy, to exercise.” Well, you get the point. One day we’re following our plan on the straight road, the next day we’ve taken a detour again. 60 days later the goal has not been met.

The same holds true for all our goals, business, personal, financial, family, etc.

So, how do you stay on the straight road? – Clarity-become very clear on what it is you want to achieve. – Action steps- What action steps can you take this week that will move you closer to your goal? (You don’t need to know the whole picture on how you will achieve your goal. Just take the next obvious step.) – Visualization-visualize reaching your goal, how will you feel? What will life be like once you’ve achieved that goal? – Motivation- You shower and brush your teeth everyday, you have to motivate yourself to achieve your goals everyday. – Acknowledgement- Notice what you are doing that is working for you to achieve your goal & give yourself a pat on the back. – Never, Never, Never, Give up!!!

Where in your life are you taking the crooked street towards a goal? What action can you take today to stay on the straight road towards your goal?
