Purpose & Plan: Year-End Review

As the year speeds to its end, we begin to mentally prepare for next year. But don’t forget to take time to assess your personal and professional challenges and accomplishments THIS year. Here are questions to ask yourself:

1. What have I accomplished this year? Be specific. Write it all down. Schedule time to celebrate this!

2. What have I learned this year? What skills did you pick up? What emotional lessons?

3. What got in my way? This is where your work will be next year. Be honest if it was your own self that got in the way.

4. Who contributed to my successes? What can you do to recognize these members of your personal or professional team?

5. What mistakes did I make, and what did I learn from them? Writing these down is a good refresher for what not to do next year.

6. How was my work consistent with my values? What will you do with the inconsistencies?

7. Where did I not take responsibility? Sometimes this is easier to see with a little distance from the actual event.

8. How did my performance rate? Give yourself a letter grade or a 1-10 score.

9. What do I need to let go of? Doing so can help you move much more lightly into the new year.

10. What was missing for me this year? How can you incorporate those things into next year?

‘Tis the season…not just to be jolly, but also to be scammed! I recently received a letter in the mail, alluding to a settlement for credit card breaches. I suspected it was a scam; however, I called the number to make sure this was not legitimate.

Of course, the person answered without mentioning anything about a settlement. She stated that they reduce credit card interest rates. I didn’t listen to anything else she had to say! I didn’t even so her why they implied something that they don’t do. I just decided to share this video for people who are unaware of these scams. I hope this helps you.

Living Life To The Fullest

Living a life full of purpose, passion and happiness does not need to be as hard as we believe.

A lot of the time the reason why we’re not living the life we want or dream off is because we are waiting for someone else to do something about it. We’re not taking the responsibility ourselves to make the changes we need and to follow our true purpose, passion and desires. This has nothing to do with anyone else – it’s all about YOU!

Living a life full of purpose, passion and happiness does not need to be as hard as we believe.

A lot of the time the reason why we’re not living the life we want or dream off is because we are waiting for someone else to do something about it. We’re not taking the responsibility ourselves to make the changes we need and to follow our true purpose, passion and desires. This has nothing to do with anyone else – it’s all about YOU!

Having the gift of a happier, more satisfying life isn’t easy and that is why so few people actually achieve all that they want out of life. In fact most people don’t even achieve 1/3rd of what they want in life. People go through the daily routines, the daily grind expecting that one day it might be different.

Setting Goals Allows You To Achieve Greatness: The trick is to own them, to make them yours. Not what your Mum wants, nor what your guidance counsellor told you was right for you…but what YOU want. If you were to ask yourself the following questions, what would the answers be. What do I want to be doing in 1 years time, 3 years, 5 years , 10 years What is my true passion in life? Are you doing it? Why not? What could I do today that is different and improves the quality of my life?

Many people have not thought about what they truly want in years. This is partially due to the vague notion that many carry around that says ‘someday I’ll have more time to figure it out and then I’ll get what I want’.

This is NOT how it works…some day is NOW. Tomorrow will never come, and our time here is limited. You can either choose for this to be a depressing thought and turn away from it, or face it straight on and FREE YOURSELF. Today is all we have – live it up! Dream with passion! PLAN to do things you love and which are fun…there is no time like the present!

You Must Set Priorities: In these busy times, it is time we realize that we cannot do it all. Nothing is created without us actually creating everything we want – I firmly believe this – but we all have 24 hours in a day, and things do slip through the cracks.

Therefore, the more we hone our focus and decide what our priorities are, the better we can live each day from that focus, and accomplish more of the things that matter to us as individuals. This is not goal-setting. Goals ARISE from this work, and allow you to accomplish those things that you wish to. This allows us to live each day with a strong sense of purpose, aliveness and joy. The trick to living this way is two-fold: the first thing you need to do is look at your overall life and decide what you want it to be about.

A good way is to think about what your life looked like as you float above it at the end of your life. Ask yourself what you will regret most if you don’t change it? What do you want said about you when you’re gone? What kind of a legacy would you like to leave? What will you wish you had done? The second part ties your priorities and your goals together. The best two tips in this area I have heard in years are extremely simple: 1. Make a list every night of the five things you MUST accomplish tomorrow, and then DO THEM tomorrow, in the order of those you want to do least first. 2. Ask yourself each day: What can I do today that I’ll be glad I did tomorrow? This one step is amazingly powerful, as you will see after a few days.

Have A Vision Of Your Life: How many times have you heard that you must visualize what you want in order to get it? Did you know that in studies with Olympic-calibre athletes, tests have shown that they performed just as well after visualizing themselves going through the motions with precision, as when they actually practiced physically? Additionally, in brain and muscle tests, all the same neurons in the brain and muscle fibres in the body were activated during intense visualization as during the actual athletic endeavour.Amazing? YES! Use this to your advantage in your own life! Practice and improve your ability to clearly and precisely picture yourself being in the situations you wish to create. There are some guided meditations in the Wealth Beyond Reason program that we have found to be very helpful with this process.

HEALTH: This has been addressed in many places, but my two best tips are: Eat less, and more often. Studies have shown that those who eat less actually survive longer, and with this happy, passionate life you are building you’ll want to prolong it as much as you can! Also, eating smaller amounts every 3-4 hours serves to boost your metabolism and burn more fat…helping you to be healthier and have more energy. Think of your metabolism like a fire…consistently feed it in little amounts. If you starve it or smother it, the results will be less to your liking.

The second tip is to get moving, and do it consistently. This one thing, if you are not already doing it, will make a huge difference for you. Go for walks, take up new sports – do whatever you have to do to stay active, and enjoy increased energy and stamina, as well as more clarity in your thoughts.

ROLE MODELS: Get some new ones. Look for people and situations that empower you, and remind you of the magnificence of the human spirit and what is possible. This lifts you out of your narrow, every day focus, and gives you a broader perspective.

So put in place and have a look at just those 5 little areas in your life and you will notice and amazing difference nearly instantly.

Stress Lessons From A Tea-Pot

Have you ever put water into a teapot to make tea before? Do you stop and think about what happens when you do? Like most of us, I’m sure you don’t even give it a second thought, but let’s examine it a bit.

First, you pour cold water into the teapot, cover it, turn on the stove, and leave. What happens next is interesting. As the water beings to heat, the molecules in it begin to move faster and faster until the water begins to boil.

Next the steam gradually builds and builds until it finds a weak spot in the teapot (the whistle) to escape. Once the opening is found, the pressure bursts from it, creating that noise that alerts you that it’s time for tea.

What’s fascinating about this to me is that this teapot can teach us a lesson or two about how pressure/frustration/stress builds and accumulates in our own lives.

What’s even more deadly about this is that we often don’t know how to release these pent-up emotions in ways that don’t harm us or those we care about. So, let’s examine this a bit more.

Lessons from a Teapot

First, there are often disturbing things that we deal with that instead of letting go, we dump into our teapot (the back-parts of our minds/heart). For example: working with someone who goes out of their way to either get you in trouble or sabotage you efforts. All day long, things that affect us negatively usually gets dumped into our sub-conscious teapot instead of being dealt with consciously and released.

Next, everything is usually fine until we’re caught in some situation that lights a fire under us. Sometimes being under stressful conditions that act as a continuous heat source, often causes our hidden feelings/emotions to begin surfacing like water that boils in the teapot.

Lastly, when we’ve had all we can take and the pressure inside the teapot grows so much that it seeks an outlet, we blow. All the pent-up frustrations and emotions just push their way past our often rational mindset and find the release they craved. Unfortunately, if there is anyone caught in the way of this eruption, they will get burned.

I believe that like most people, you too often find yourself in state of hold-buildup-explode, so, here are a few things you can learn.

Teapot Training 101

Lesson #1 – Health Hazard – One of the most deadly things about stress is the damage it can have on your health. Just as the lime build-up accumulated from water sitting in the teapot begins to eat away at it from the inside, unreleased stress does the same to you.

Gradually, what was once a strong and reliable teapot, becomes a worn, broken metal can fit for the garbage heap. You can’t allow this to take place inside you so you’ve got to learn to release stress properly.

Lesson #2 – Use Communication – Most of the times, we begin accumulating stress by not being upfront and clear with people we’re dealing with, so we end up stuck with this negative energy. Whether with spouse, children, friends, co-workers etc, learn to be clear on your position concerning what you want done, or what can be expected of you. Let them know “this works for me” or “This can be done in this particular timeframe but without this” etc.

Lesson #3 – Turn The Heat Off – Sometimes we all find ourselves caught in situations that make our blood boil, but you must learn to either remove the heat source or remove yourself from it. Try not to stay in situations that keep increasing your pressure (literally & figuratively) and try often to seem other ways to deal with them.

Lesson #4 – Turn Off The Earth – Always remember that you need time for yourself. Take breaks from what you’re doing; plan a relaxing vacation and take it; take a long drive with friends/family and talk out what’s bothering you; sit in a hot bubble bath; do whatever is necessary to release your frustrations at days end. Try a much as possible not to carry yesterday’s stress into tomorrow.
